I had a mixed experience during my stay. The location was perfect for exploring the town, just a short walk from the main market. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, but unfortunately, the views weren’t great. While the service was satisfactory, our first room left a lot to be desired regarding comfort. Dining options were decent, but nothing extraordinary. Overall, it’s a charming place but not without its flaws.

The rooms were spacious, with beautiful old furniture and interesting light fittings, but the view was disappointing, lacking any real sight.

The service was satisfactory overall, but there were moments when it felt like the staff was overwhelmed and couldn't give personal attention.

My stay at the Elgin was truly memorable, steeped in rich history and offering stunning views. The rooms were a lovely blend of traditional charm and modern amenities, while the location provided easy access to Darjeeling's attractions. However, there were minor issues with the dining options that could use improvement. Overall, it felt like an exceptional value for such a unique experience.

Rooms

The rooms seamlessly blended modern comforts with the nostalgia of the British Raj, and I particularly appreciated the spaciousness and cleanliness, making my family feel right at home.
Service
10.0
The service was impeccable; the staff was courteous and more than willing to accommodate our family's needs, which made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Location

Situated near the Chaurasta, the hotel enjoys a perfect location allowing for peaceful moments away from the bustling tourist crowds, yet still conveniently close to local attractions.
Dining
7.0
While the breakfast offerings were delightful, I hoped for a bit more variety in the lunch and dinner menus to truly showcase the incredible Indian cuisine.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel boasts charming common areas for relaxation and socializing, though I would love to see the addition of a dedicated indoor play area for infants and toddlers to enhance family-friendliness.

6.0/10

I recently stayed at this hotel, which is a mixed bag of experiences. While I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious and well-maintained new wing, my overall stay was overshadowed by the less appealing conditions of the old wing and the unwelcoming service. The location does have its charm, but be cautious about the hidden issues that may dampen your visit.

Rooms
6.0
We had the opportunity to stay in the new wing, which was spacious and featured modern amenities including air conditioning. However, the rooms in the old wing were quite cramped and lacked basic facilities, making the overall experience less pleasant.
Service
5.0
The service left much to be desired; we encountered indifferent staff who seemed uninterested in our needs. The lack of attention to guest relations significantly affected our overall experience.
Location
7.0
The location is beautiful and provides a nice view, but the construction nearby can block the scenery, which was disappointing. The overall environment is peaceful but marred by some noise.
Dining
7.0
Dining options were decent, but I had expected more from a hotel of this stature. While the breakfast spread was good, it could definitely be improved in variety and quality.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities were somewhat lacking, especially in the old wing where maintenance seemed to be overlooked. The new wing offered a pleasant and modern environment, but the inconsistent quality across the hotel was disappointing.

This heritage hotel offers a unique glimpse into Darjeeling's history with its beautiful antique decor and spacious rooms. While the location is convenient and the staff is very attentive, the dining options could use some improvement, particularly the dinner cuisine. Additionally, the lack of lifts can be a bit inconvenient for guests with heavy luggage. Overall, it's a charming place to stay, especially for those who value character and history.

Rooms
8.0
Our room was in the heritage section, spacious with polished wooden floors and a separate sitting area. However, it’s important to note that there are no lifts, so if you have mobility issues or heavy bags, you might want to reconsider your room choice.
Service
9.0
The service at the hotel was very warm and accommodating. The staff was always eager to help with any additional needs we might have had during our stay.
Location

The hotel is just a short walk from the Mall, which is a fantastic advantage for exploring Darjeeling. Being positioned so close to the center makes it a convenient base for sightseeing.
Dining
7.0
While breakfast was quite good with a nice egg station, I found dinner options lacking. It felt like the quality could be improved to match the hotel’s heritage vibe.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel is well-maintained and has a lovely lounge area, but it should be noted that there’s no central heating, which could be a drawback during cooler months.

I had mixed feelings about my stay at the Elgin. The history and charm of the hotel were captivating, but there were significant downsides, particularly with the overall maintenance and staff warmth. While the new wing offers better and more spacious rooms, the old wing falls short in comfort and ambiance. Dining was generally pleasant, adding some comfort to my experience despite the room issues.

Rooms
9.0
I stayed in a suite in the new wing, and it was fantastic! The space was ample and tastefully furnished, with two big rooms, a giant television, and luxurious washrooms complete with bathtubs. It truly felt like a blend of modernity and the heritage vibe of the hotel.
Service
6.0
I found the service could have been friendlier. While some staff members were caring and polite, others seemed indifferent, which impacted the overall experience.
Location
8.0
The location is lovely, nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Darjeeling, which adds a certain charm to the experience. It felt like I was transported to a foregone era.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience was quite enjoyable. The food was delicious and offered a nice variety, although I would have liked to see more options during breakfast.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel has some great facilities, from a plush reading room to an eclectic bar, but it felt like certain areas needed better maintenance.
